Background Media
Your background is usually the biggest file on your profile. If it’s too large, visitors will just see a black screen while they wait for it to download.Static Images
Use
.webp or .jpg files. Aim to keep them under 1MB. Avoid big .png files since they take way too long to load on mobile.Video Backgrounds
Stick to 1080p. Using 4K might look cool on your monitor, but it’ll make your profile lag or stutter for anyone on a phone or an older laptop.
Quick Fix
Use a site like Squoosh to shrink your images. You can usually cut the file size in half without noticing any difference in quality.
Music & Audio
Music is great, but big audio files are the #1 reason why the “Enter” button gets stuck. Browsers have to download a lot of the song before they let you play it.- Don’t go overboard with quality: 128kbps or 192kbps is plenty for a profile. Avoid using
.wavor.flacfiles—stick to.mp3or.ogg. - Keep it small: Try to keep your song under 3MB. If the file is huge, your profile will feel “broken” to visitors.
- Smooth Start: Adding a quick fade-in to the start of your song makes the transition much nicer when someone clicks “Enter.”
If your “Enter” screen is stuck, your audio file is probably too big. Try compressing it or using a shorter version of the song.
Markdown & Bio
Your About Me section should be clean and quick to load. Even though it’s “just text,” a complex bio can still feel clunky.- Too many emojis: Each custom emoji is a separate thing for the browser to load. Using 50 emojis in one bio can actually slow things down.
- External images: If you’re linking images from other sites in your bio, make sure those images aren’t massive.
- Use Headers: Use
###to break up your text. It looks better and helps people find your stats or socials quickly.
Still feeling slow?
If your profile still feels laggy:- Test on your phone: If it’s slow on your phone, it’s slow for everyone else too.
- The “Enter” trick: You can force the enter screen in General Customization. This hides the loading process behind a nice “Enter” button so the reveal feels instant.
- F12 is your friend: If you’re on a PC, press
F12and check the “Network” tab. It’ll show you exactly which file is taking the longest to load.
