# Report User

Learn when to use the report system and when to use tickets instead.

> Use the correct reporting method so **Staff** gets the right information as quickly as possible.

## Report Command
You can report a server member by using the `/report` command. The command asks for a few required details so **Staff** can review the case properly.

> The report system helps **Staff** act faster because it forwards the report together with the most important information in one place.

> [!NOTE]
> Do not worry about reporting a user who has already been reported by someone else.
> Only **one active report case** can exist per reported user, so the bot will inform you instead of creating a duplicate case.

### Required Options
- **User**: The user you want to report.
- **Reason**: A brief description of why you are reporting this user.
- **Proof**: Any evidence you have to support your report, such as screenshots.

### Message Command
If you want to report a specific message, use the `Report Message to Staff Team` message command.

You can access message commands by right-clicking the message, opening **Apps**, selecting the **haunt.gg bot**, and then choosing the report option.

The advantage of this method is that the reported message is automatically included as evidence. A transcript of the reported message, together with nearby messages for context, is sent to the **Staff team**.

### Appropriate Use
Do not use the report feature for troll reports, joke reports, or intentionally false reports.

Submitting false reports on purpose may result in you being **blacklisted from the report system**.

Also, do not use the report system for **on-website violations**. Use a ticket for those instead.

## Ticket
You can also use tickets to report a user when the case does not fit the normal report system.

Use a ticket if:
- The report is about an **on-website violation**
- The case needs **more context** than a normal report can provide
- You need to include **multiple pieces of evidence**
- You want to report a **Staff member**

> [!WARNING]
> **Staff members cannot be reported through the normal report system.**
> If you need to report a **Staff member**, you must use a **ticket** instead.

## Which One Should I Use?
- Use **`/report`** for normal Discord user reports that can be explained with a short reason and clear proof.
- Use the **message report command** when a specific message is the main evidence.
- Use a **ticket** for website-related reports, larger cases, or reports involving **Staff** members.
