# Custom Roles

Learn how to create and manage custom roles in the Discord server.

## General Information
A custom role is a role that you can create and customize with your own **name**, **color**, and in some cases an **icon**.

Custom roles are a fun way to personalize your appearance in the server and show your support for the community as a **server booster**.

You can also share your custom role with other users. They do **not** need to be server boosters themselves to use a shared role.

## Commands
Use the following commands to manage your custom role:

- `/customrole name` -> Create or rename your booster role
- `/customrole delete` -> Delete your booster role
- `/customrole share` -> Share your booster role with another member
- `/customrole color` -> Set your booster role color, including solid colors or gradients
- `/customrole dominant` -> Set the role color based on the dominant color of your avatar
- `/customrole icon` -> Set the icon for your booster role
- `/customrole random` -> Apply a random color to your booster role
- `/customrole unshare` -> Remove a shared member from your custom role

## Before You Create One
Before creating or editing a custom role, make sure it follows the [**Custom Role Rules**](/discord/rules/customrole).

This is especially important for:
- **Role names**
- **Icons**
- **Advertising**
- **Impersonation**

If your role breaks the rules, **Staff** may ask you to change it or remove it entirely.
